God had called and I shared this word with Sue who confirmed that this was of God. And so I called the pastor and shared with him the deep conviction that stirred within me that morning. God’s calling has been a strong anchor for us as we have endured the highs and lows of ministry for 40 years. I am a strong believer that our destiny is strengthened by the calling of God that usually comes through meditating on His word. You are probably familiar with a leadership review. But there was one that caught my attention recently as I was reading of the life of Jesus in Matthew 23. Interestingly, Jesus had been reviewing the religious leaders of His day, unbeknown to them. And it seems that they failed the review badly. I must admit that I had an uncomfortable moment as I reviewed my life in light of comments Jesus made about these leaders.

Before you become too critical of them, reflect on these five questions and give yourself a mark out of ten for each one.

Stand up and take charge (They accept responsibility and have a war-time perspective)
Are not necessarily those in leadership positions with leadership titles
Define reality
Are humble and care for people
Are prepared to make sacrifices and pay a price
Walk by faith and not by sight
Lead by their convictions and not by their feelings
Know that God is sovereign and that the crisis has not taken Him by surprise

HUMILITY………The key to aging well

I was recently reminded by our Prime Minister that I am now old enough to be regarded as a protected species that needs to be shielded from the dangers of our society. He was addressing the issue of the current Corona virus pandemic and urged all Australians over 70 to stay at home to avoid any unnecessary risk of contracting the virus. I must admit that I had mixed feelings about his interest in my welfare.
